There’s a handful of summer films we’re greatly looking forward to, but last week brought us some surprise news that has us re-adjusting our most-anticipated list. Focus Features revealed that Edgar Wright‘s final entry into his Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy (which began with Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz), The World’s End, will be hitting U.S. theaters a bit sooner.
Moved from an October bow to a wide release on August 23rd, we’ve now got a new still from the film focusing in on our main group. Featuring Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Martin Freeman, Eddie Marsan and Paddy Considine as five friends who reunite for a pub crawl, this image presumably sees them in transit. Check it out below via FilmoFilia, as well as the synopsis and poster for the film that will hopefully be getting a trailer soon.
20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.
The World’s End opens on August 23rd.
