The first trailer for Breck Eisner’s (Sahara) remake of The Crazies has just hit the net via Apple. Its a remake of George A. Romero’s fun 1973 thriller and there’s some obvious departures. The film follows a town sherif named David (Timothy Olyphant) and his wife Judy(Rhada Mitchell) who are located in a nice midwestern town. Soon the town becomes overrun by lunatics who may or may not have been infected by a military experiment. The film is set for February 26th, 2010.

This actually looks fairly promising and even somewhat cool. The first half of the trailer shows that its going to have a generic horror movie set up, but the last half of the trailer is where the excitement truly kicks in. The music cue of Mad World does feel a little too on the nose, but it is not that distracting. The original was a fun movie, but it was nothing special. This remake isn’t a bad idea and this trailer showcases that fact.
