When it comes to comic book movies, a certain amount of rumors are to be expected, but it was reaching incessant, drawn-out levels when it came to Chronicle director Josh Trank‘s re-do of The Fantastic Four. Thankfully, it looks like matters have been settled, as our main quartet has been found.
According to The Wrap, depending on his availability with the Divergent franchise, Miles Teller is eager to join as Mr. Fantastic, while Michael B. Jordan is close to signing on to the role of Human Torch. Besides that long-rumored duo, House of Cards star Kate Mara is in talks for Sue Storm, while Jamie Bell (The Adventures of Tintin, Mister Foe) looks to take the role of The Thing. In order to make the June 19th, 2015 release date, expect finalized casting soon.
In related news, Teller and Jordan are looking to reteam once again for Tom Gormican, the director behind That Awkward Moment. While that film recently got lambasted by critics, it’s soon to triple its budget at the domestic box-office.
The Wrap is also reporting that they’ve begun talks for a Warner Bros. heist film from the helmer. Although it’s currently untitled with little plot details, it’s said to be set in Macau and in the vein of Ocean’s 11. We imagine Fantastic Four will certainly shoot before this one, so don’t expect it for some time.
In our last bit of casting news, one of last year’s most prolific actors will finally have the chance to headline his own project. James Badge Dale, who was seen in World War Z, Iron Man 3, Parkland and The Lone Ranger, has lined up a thriller titled Spectral.
The Wrap (yes, again) report that it’s to be directed by long-time commercials helmer Nic Mathieu and it’s spare description hints that it’s a supernatural bent on Black Hawk Down as “a special ops group is formed to bring down evil ghosts that have taken over Manhattan.” Set to be distributed by Universal, and scripted by Ian Fried, George Nolfi, and John Gatins, hopefully more details will land soon, but we’d liked to see Dale in more prominent roles, so this is a good sign.
Which of the above projects are you most looking forward to?
