Director Brad Anderson garnered some recent success with his surprise hit The Call, and soon he’ll add another thriller to his list of upcoming projects. The Wrap reports that Anderson will helm Restart for Lotus Entertainment based on a script penned by National Treasure: Book of Secrets writer Gregory Poirier. The film, which is described as The Game meets Unknown, is based on author Matthew Klein’s recently published novel No Way Back, a tense mystery set in the corporate world. See description courtesy of the author’s website below:
Jimmy Thane thinks he knows about loss, about fear, about paranoia.
He should think again.
Every time Jimmy has been faced with a crossroad, he has taken the wrong path. But after years of drinking and womanising, he has been given one last chance to save both his career and his marriage – he has seven weeks to transform a failing company.
From the moment he enters the building, he senses there’s something wrong – the place is too quiet, too empty. When the police come calling about the disappearance of the former CEO, Jimmy starts to wonder what he’s got himself into. Then he discovers surveillance equipment in his neighbour’s house, looking straight into his own front room. And his wife isn’t just tired, she’s terrified – and trying to hide it.
Nothing is at it seems. Jimmy’s not living his dream – he’s been plunged into the worst kind of nightmare. And when the truth comes out, it’s more terrifying than he could ever imagine…
Anderson is currently overseeing production on Eliza Graves, an Edgar Allen Poe-inspired tale featuring Kate Beckinsale, Jim Sturgess, Michael Caine and Ben Kingsley. As for Restart, there’s no word on casting or releases dates yet, but with a finished script, the details should soon come rolling in.
Based on the description, do you think Restart sounds like an exciting film? Does it seem like a good fit for Anderson?
