After winning the most prestigious award for acting in Hollywood this past Sunday, Jean Dujardin is heading back to his comedic roots for a new project. THR has informed us that he may be returning to France to team up with the comedy troupe that helped kick start his career in the upcoming film, Le Petit Joueur.
Joucla and Dujardin were once members of the sketch comedy troupe Nous C Nous, with Bruno Salomone, Eric Massot and Eric Collado, who will all join the recent Oscar winner for the project. Dujardin‘s real wife, Alexandra Lamy and her sister Audrey, along with Shirley Bousquet and Florence Foresti will be joining the comedic fun as well. Although the French media got wind of the project today, a rep for the film’s director, Manu Joucla, refused to give any details about the project.
For those of us who don’t know French, myself included, Le Petit Joueur means The Little Player in English. The project “centers on an out-of-work guy separated from his wife who decides to compete in a poker tournament organized by a billionaire.” With his thriller Mobius in pre-prodcution, it has been reported that Dujardin will be playing a smaller role in the film than originally planned. Shooting for Le Petit Joueur will begin this summer in Tunisia.
