We reported the IMAX/WB 20 picture deal a few hours ago, which included The Man of Steel but no release date was known. Now IESB followed up with one of their sources who confirmed Warner Bros is planning a release for Christmas 2012. Christopher Nolan will be producing and David S. Goyer is scribing the new Superman film. It’s kind of odd that they are planning on releasing a superhero film of this caliber in the winter, but think back to last year. 5 out of top 10 grossers of the entire year were released in the winter. WB also has to starts shooting soon or they may lose the rights in 2013.
The article states how the much rumored Justice League is definitely being planned by WB. With the two Nolan Batman films, then The Green Lantern, Superman and also a Flash movie in the works, expect to hear news of a Justice League film in the not so distant future.
What do you think about a Christmas release for Superman? What about a Justice League film?
