Having seen last night’s debut trailer for Pacific Rim, at least one film this summer is likely to deliver some high-scale popcorn thrills. Following Guillermo del Toro‘s robots vs. monsters blockbuster in July, we’re also getting a more personal story of one man’s journey at the end of the month, but don’t let that short logline fool you. We can expect James Mangold‘s The Wolverine to have a fair amount of action as well and now new posters for both films have cropped up.
One can see Hugh Jackman, crouched in a rainy Japan, holding a sword with claws extended in a regular poster, as well as a motion one-sheet. Following that, we’ve got two Pacific Rim posters in two different designs each, all showing off the massive scale when humans are sized up against these robots. A quick del Toro tidbit also popped up over at THR, where they report that Fox Animation Studios has teamed with the director on a Day of the Dead-themed project (no, not the Pixar one), titled Book of Life. Set to hit theaters on October 10th, 2014, we’ve got no plot details but Jorge R. Guiterrez will be directing while del Toro produces. We can only hope it fares better than his Rise of the Guardians and in the meantime, check out the posters below.
Pacific Rim lands on July 12th, while The Wolverine hits theaters two weeks later on July 26th.
