With the proliferation of ride-sharing apps, I imagine those reading this have had a few unpleasant experiences, but they don’t quite compare with what driver Kumail Nanjiani goes through in Stuber. After unknowingly picking up a cop (Dave Bautista) who is on the hunt for a killer, their day doesn’t exactly go as planned.
Premiering as a work-in-progress screening at SXSW, Fox will now release the action-comedy this July and the first amusing trailer has landed. Direction comes from Michael Dowse (Goon, What If) and the script is by Tripper Clancy. Also starring Iko Uwais, Natalie Morales, Betty Gilpin, Jimmy Tatro, with Mira Sorvino and Karen Gillan, see the trailer below.
When a mild-mannered Uber driver named Stu (Kumail Nanjiani) picks up a passenger (Dave Bautista) who turns out to be a cop hot on the trail of a brutal killer, he’s thrust into a harrowing ordeal where he desperately tries to hold onto his wits, his life and his five-star rating.
Stuber opens on July 12.
