Variety has confirmed Steven Spielberg‘s next film will be War Horse. It is based on a “children’s story, which tells the tale of WWI from the prospective of a horse.” Spielberg grabbed the rights late last year and British writer Lee Hall (Billy Elliot, The Wind in the Willows) has written the screenplay for the “dramatic adventure.” The material was recently adapted into a hit play in the UK.
Although production hasn’t even begun, War Horse will come out before his next big mo-cap blockbuster The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, which hits theaters Dec. 2011. Two Spielberg films in one year? I’m down. This news also comes recently after a speculative collaboration project with J.J. Abrams.
War Horse is set for an Aug. 10, 2011 release.
What do you think about Spielberg’s next project?
