Steve Pink has signed on to helm and co-write Shore Leave for DreamWorks and according to Deadline, he’ll co-write the script with Jeff Morris. Details are under wraps at the moment, but with a title like Shore Leave, and the fact that it’s a “male-driven comedy,” you can probably piece the plot together yourself.

Pink, who had his biggest success with 2010’s Hot Tub Time Machine, has been keeping busy with his directorial effort About Last Night, a remake of the Edward Zwick comedy, which is currently in post-production (slated for a Valentine’s Day 2014 release); there’s also Contractors, and he also plans to direct an NBC comedy pilot starring Hot Tub Time Machine cast member Craig Robinson. And for those going “wait he’s not making a Hot Tub Time Machine sequel? Good for him!” you might want to hold that thought because he’s currently in talks with MGM about that very project. Sorry to harsh your mellow.

I love Hot Tub Time Machine, so Pink has benefit of the doubt on Shore Leave. I will keep an eye on the plot and casting though, because this could easily be either the best thing ever or a trainwreck — depending on the fine details.

Any thoughts on Shore Leave despite there being nothing that tangible to have thoughts about?
