After conquering the TV spectrum with The Office, Steve Carell has shifted his focus to the theatrical landscape along with this company Carousel Productions. They started things off right with their first effort, the ensemble romantic comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love., a critical and commercial success. They’re currently in production on the magician comedy Burt Wonderstone, which pairs Carell with Jim Carrey. Variety now reports on a very different feature project.

They’ve teamed with Warner Bros. for an animated film named The Tower Raven. Written by Jim Cooper, a Pixar employee who also worked on How To Train Your Dragon TV series, the story “is set at the Tower of London, where seven ravens have been in residence for the past five centuries. The ravens attempt to solve a theft of the Crown Jewels.”

Carell is no stranger to animation, voice acting in Despicable Me and Horton Hears a Who!. It’d be nice to see this project have a little edge, rather than those films. There’s no mention of what type of animation it’ll be, but I wouldn’t doubt it would go the DreamWorks-esque route. Seeing Carell’s transition from comedic actor to a full-fledged producer is already an exciting one and I’m looking forward to what he does in this medium.

What would you like to see from Carell-produced animated movie?
