The casting details for the latest, highly anticipated Coen Brother‘s effort, Inside Llewyn Davis, is never ending, as Deadline now reports that relative unknown Stark Sands has just signed on for the folksy drama.
Although Sands hasn’t made a name for himself in Hollywood quite yet, being cast in a Coen brothers‘ movie is surely a good stepping stone to bigger and better things. He was last seen on the big screen in My Sassy Girl as “soldier,” which I’m sure no one really remembers — but, hey, at least he’s acting. He graced the realm of Broadway in the unfortunate adaptation of Green Day‘s American Idiot; on the other hand, he did have a part in Clint Eastwood‘s Flags of Our Fathers, and will soon appear in the new CBS series NYC 22, which is produced by Robert De Niro.
Sands is welcomed by Oscar Issac, Justin Timberlake, Carey Mulligan and John Goodman in the film, “set in the burgeoning folk scene in 1961’s Greenwich Village.” Issac will play the titular character, with Mulligan cast as the wife to folk musician Jim, played by Timberlake. Sands is set to play Troy Nelson, a young soldier on leave, who is a “forlorn but talented musician.” Maybe his role in My Sassy Girl will help him out on this one.
Do your thoughts on Inside Llewyn Davis change in any way after this little casting tidbit?
