We don’t know much about Star Trek 2. J. J. Abrams hasn’t even confirmed he will direct the next installment, but we can assume the cast will be returning. Alex Kurtzman, Damon Lindelof, and Roberto Orci are currently writing the script will plans to shoot next year for a 2012 release. The only small detail is Lindelof has said they were inspired by The Dark Knight in forming the sequel, “We don’t want to abandon all the things that made the first movie work…but we also really want the movie to thematically resonate.” It was also recently uncovered that the villain will not be Khan, but one of the following: Harry Mudd, Trelane, Gary Mitchell, the Talosians, or the Horta.
Collider came across the first teaser image for the sequel, and star Simon Pegg tweeted it, making me think it is legit. Of course he could be playing games, as this looks like a photoshop anyone could have made. You can check out the full poster/image on their site.
