Spike Jonze, one of my favorite new generation directors, has made a new short film entitled I’m Here. You may recognize his name from his feature films: Where the Wild Things Are, Adaptation and Being John Malkovich. However, this phenomenally talented man began his career as a music video director. He directed many great music videos, some of my favorites are Weezer’s Buddy Holly, Beastie Boys’ Sabotage and Fatboy Slim’s Praise You, so he’s no stranger to the short film genre. He even released an odd short film that starred Kanye West, We Were Once A Fairytale, recently which you can view here. Anyways let’s get to the meat of the matter, check out the trailer for his newest short film, I’m Here, below:
Personally I think it looks fantastic and even though I can’t decipher much from the trailer as to what the plot of the film is I really don’t care right now. It’s directed by the man Spike Jonze and he can do no wrong in my eyes. Visually the trailer reminds me of the puppetry in Where the Wild Things Are and Being John Malkovich which I both loved.
The short film is going be premiering at this year’s Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.
What do you think of the trailer?
