The Razzies are seriously one of the greatest award shows that exist in the world today. While most award galas seek to celebrate the achievements of pretending to be other people and getting paid ridiculous amounts of money to do it (in 3D, no less!), the people behind The Golden Raspberry Awards are all about knocking Hollywood down a peg or two, instead concentrating on the misfires and terrible performances that plagued the year in movies (of which people still got paid ridiculous sums of money, but I digress). The 2011 nominations have been announced, and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and The Last Airbender have pulled out to the front with nine nominations a piece, including Worst Picture and Worst Screen Couple/Ensemble. Deserved nominations in my opinion. Let’s roll down the list and see who’s in the crosshairs…I mean, who got the honor of being nominated (courtesy of the always reliable Deadline and taken verbatim from the press release):

VAMPIRES SUCK!
These are all pretty sound choices, and none that are too surprising. I think it’s pretty funny that Vampires Suck and Eclipse are both vying for Worst Picture, but that’s what you get when you dip a vampire in a vat of glitter and unleash him to mope and be angsty. Nothing good ever comes of it folks, and this is proof right here. Also, I really hope George Lopez gets the Razzie for Worst Supporting Actor; all the guy does is cause moviegoers misery and pain (and to think I used to give him slack for his ABC sitcom). And screw you Sex and the City 2; I don’t really have anything insightful to say about that statement, but this may be the only chance I get to ever get to vent my frustrations so there that is. I hate you and your gross faces/fashion sense.
The 31st Annual Razzie Awards will be given out on February 26th, the night before the 83rd Academy Awards. Why can’t I get this on TV instead? Boo-urns.
What do you think of the nominations? Do you think that’s a good representation of all the horrible flicks of 2010 or is there something they missed? And if they missed something and you saw it, please email me for I am a Psychology major and I may be able to help you cope…for a fee of course.
