From James Bond to…Vin Diesel? That may be the path for longtime 007 writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, the duo who announced the highly successful Skyfall will be their last Bond film for the time being. While they search for new projects, according to Deadline, they’ve finally locked into one.

Staying in the action genre, they’ve signed with Universal Pictures to provide an update to the 1970s CBS drama Kojak, which starred Telly Savalas as our main rough-and-tumble NYPD cop. Diesel, coming off another likely hit of The Fast And Furious 6, will step in for this lead role, matching the baldness of our previous star. There’s no details if this update with draw from a specific episode, but its said the duo “will re-imagine and contemporize it for the big screen.” Expect more new soon as Universal moves forward, but for now check out an intro to the original show below.
