In the 80’s, Sigourney Weaver was known as the “thinking man’s sex symbol” and the actress, now 60, seems intent on retaining that title with a slew of brainy roles in upcoming films.
As we reported last week, the Avatar star has signed on for a role as para-psychologist in Rodrigo Cortés‘ Red Lights and has now landed another psychologist role in the forthcoming Taylor Lautner-vehicle Abducted.
The film deals with a young man (Lautner) who is distressed to find a picture of himself as a baby on a missing persons website. The plot sounds somewhat reminiscent of the novel The Face On The Milk Carton. Weaver will play the psychologist he turns to to deal with this trauma.
John Singleton (Boyz In The Hood, Four Brothers) is set to direct this feature for Lionsgate. Singleton’s last film was the generally well-received modern Western action flick Four Brothers.
How will Singleton and Lautner work together? What do you think of Weaver as an actress?
