The duo behind the fantastic comedies Superbad, Pineapple Express and Michel Gondry‘s upcoming Green Hornet will continue their relationship with Neighborhood Watch. [THR]

Jared Stern, who worked on Bolt and The Princess of the Frog as well as the upcoming adaptation of Mr. Popper’s Penguins and the Arthur remake, originally wrote the script. Fox has hired Rogen and Goldberg to do a rewrite on the story that follows “a suburban neighborhood watch group, actually a front for dads to get some male bonding time away from the family. Things go awry when the group accidentally uncovers a plot bent on destroying the world.”

Pete Segal, who directed Get Smart and is attached to Grudge Match, is looking to direct for producer Shawn Levy. Will Ferrell was once rumored to star, but that looks to no longer be the case. It is interested to see Levy and Segal team up with Rogen/Goldberg, as latter are known for their hard-R rated, crude material. Segal and Levy have both kept it pretty broad and safe with their latest work. I can only hope this is a turn for them and not for Rogen and Goldberg.

What do you think of this project? Are you excited Rogen and Goldberg are working on it?
