Dwayne Johnson has kept himself busy starring in a batch of upcoming action films, including The Fast and the Furious 6, Pain & Gain, Empire State, and the long awaited G.I. Joe: Retaliation. One of the selections, Snitch, boasts an impressive cast – the likes of which includes Susan Sarandon, Michael K. Williams, and Benjamin Bratt – in a formulaic setup that looks less-than-impressive. Based (very loosely) on true events, Johnson plays a father who goes undercover to reduce his son’s sentence by serving up a major drug dealer.
A second trailer for the film makes it clear that the first ad blew its wad on the best action moments and plot reveals, for anyone expecting fresh material will find a lot of recycled footage. The lack of new developments could mean more surprises for audiences, or it could mean that Snitch doesn’t have much more to offer. Let’s hope it’s the former.

Directed by Ric Roman Waugh, Snitch also stars Nadine Velazquez, Jon Bernthal, Barry Pepper, and Rafi Gavron. It opens in theaters on February 22nd.
