Yesterday it was reported that the list for The Green Lantern had been narrowed to 3. Well today THR officially announced that Warner Bros. has picked Ryan Reynolds (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) as the lead in the new film. However they also reported that the deal has not been finalized but if it goes through it will make history in comic book film as Reynolds will be the only actor to ever play a superhero in both comic franchises (Marvel & D.C.). The film is being directed by Martin Campbell (Casino Royale) and produced by Donald De Line and Greg Berlanti.
I am really excited about this. I think Reynolds can really bring emotion and personality to the character. He proved he can play a superhero in Wolverine and with his Deadpool spin-off on the rise he only shows promise. Also, with the direction of Martin Cambell this definitely could turn into D.C.’s Iron Man.
