Yes, Ryan Reynolds might have his popular name attatched to several different projects right now, including one of DC’s biggest films to date, The Green Lantern. But that won’t stop him from adding another high profile film to his repotoire this year. Reportedly he is set up to work on a buddy cop movie with The A-Team star, Bradley Cooper.
FirstShowing reports that the movie is set to be written by the academy award nominated, Sheldon Turner (Up In The Air). The film is currently untitled and will be centered around two San Francisco based cops who’s retired fathers were partners on the Police Force years ago. The film starts to get hectic when they have to bring their dads out of retirement to help crack a serious case.
This film is backed by a crew who have been in the hollywood scene for a bit, with Neil Moritz (The Bounty Hunter) and Andrew Panay (Wedding Crashers) producing. This film was actually set to be made five years ago and had the clever title Blowback and Dwayne Johnson attatched to star. Now it’s a different ball game, but while you might think that this will be mostly flat out laugh-till-you cry comedy, there isn’t a chance with Turner writing, and the R rating, that you can’t expect there to be some drama found in several spots of this flick. It’s building up to be more of a Lethal Weapon esque film. That may not be too different, but with the names riding along on this movie, we can still get some excitment out of it.
Are you excited about this movie? Do you think that Reynolds and Cooper will make a good team?
