Paul Rudd first came to prominence in Clueless and Romeo + Juliet but it wasn’t until 2001’s Wet Hot American Summer that he was solidified as one of the premier comic actors in the business. Since then, he has had hit after hit (e.g. Anchorman, Role Models, etc.) which shows either tremendous talent, or an innate ability for picking great roles. Either way, his casting news gets my attention.

Rudd has just signed on to star in the indie project My Idiot Brother [THR]. Jesse Peretz is directing the flick with an intriguing story:

(My Idiot Brother) sees Rudd playing an idealist dealing with his overbearing mother who crashes into the homes of his three ambitious sisters and, in succession, brings truth, happiness and a sunny disposition into their lives while also wreaking havoc.

The director’s sister Evgenia Peretz and David Schisgall are penning the script. Production begins in July.

What do you think of Paul Rudd’s work? What is your favorite movie of his?
