While promoting his new film The Soloist, Robert Downey Jr. mentioned that there may be a Sherlock Holmes sequel. He told MTV, “I feel like there’s going to be a Sherlock Holmes 2“. Downey also mentioned that the film will not include Sherlock Holmes’s opium addiction saying that, “This is a PG-13 movie. Let’s just refer to these peripherally. So at one point, Watson says, ‘What are you doing, that’s for eye surgery!”. Sherlock Holmes is set for release on December 25th, 2009.
First off, its a strange to talk about the possibility of a sequel when we haven’t even seen a trailer and were also about 8 months before the release date. I am sure that Warner Brothers probably has a hit on there hands, but it just seems that Downey is jumping the gun a little by already talking about the possibility of a sequel. I’m also kind of hesitant of the idea of a family friendly Guy Ritchie (Snatch) movie, the two and two just don’t connect for me. I was just hoping that Guy Ritchie would be going for a more serious tone then comedic. This may very well turn out to be a fun movie, but right now my expectations are not very high for this.
