With news that Michael Douglas is in talks for the upcoming CBS Films comedy Last Vegas arriving just yesterday, things are moving fast on the casting front. Vulture know lets us know a likely possibility for some of the other three old geezers that would join him.
They reveal that Robert De Niro is currently in talks to join the film, which follows “four best friends in their late 60s who decide to escape retirement and throw a Las Vegas bachelor party for the only one of them who remains single.” Reportedly De Niro and Douglas would be falling in love with the same girl, with the former the one about to get married, so not sure how that matches up if they are supposedly best friends. But nonetheless this sounds like your basic The Hangover meets Grumpy Old Men.
Directed by Jon Turteltaub (National Treasure, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice), they also let us know that Christopher Walken may join, but CBS Films is waiting for De Niro to officially confirm. De Niro has seemed to not take his career too seriously in the past decade, but things are looking up as he has a major role in David O. Russell‘s The Silver Linings Playbook later this year. While this sounds like a broad studio comedy, at least a promising cast is getting assembled.
What do you think about De Niro, Douglas and Walken together in Vegas?
