Coming off of the success of It Follows, we imagine writer-director David Robert Mitchell had his fair share of studio meetings about the latest horror remake, but thankfully he’s staying on the independent side with his follow-up. We learned earlier this year that he would be directing Andrew Garfield in the modern-day noir thriller Under the Silver Lake, and now with production gearing up, the cast has expanded and new details have arrived.
The A24 project has added Riley Keough (American Honey, Mad Max: Fury Road) and Topher Grace (Interstellar, That ’70s Show) to the ensemble. Keough has reportedly taken the female lead role, replacing the previously attached Dakota Johnson. Meanwhile, Grace will take the role of a friend to Garfield’s lead detective character, who assists him on his missing woman case in Los Angeles.
According to new plot details, the film [Update: logline removed at the producer’s request.] It certainly sounds like a strange mix, but in the hands of Mitchell we expect the results to be quite singular, and include a great soundtrack.
