Production Weekly recently tweeted that Scott Pilgrim vs. The World was reshooting certain sections of the film in Toronto; this was a cause of concern for some people. Fortunately, Edgar Wright sent out an e-mail to notable movie blogs about why this is no reason to be worried:
To be honest – I’m excited about it. We have material from Vol 6 that is impossible to resist and so even after a nearly a year of editing – it’s going to be fun to put some icing on the cake. We are not even redoing one full scene, just some bits and bobs and new jokes and beats that I wrote with Bacall & O’Malley. Both Shaun & Hot Fuzz had two and three days respectively of additional shooting. One of those bits was the granny being kicked in the face. I think we can all agree that was a good pickup.
Recently there had been rumors that the bigwigs at Universal had deemed Scott Pilgrim to be a “problem movie” that was virtually unwatchable. But that was an obvious load of crap due to two reasons; 1) all the test screening buzz has been extraordinary and 2) Universal went out and said that those rumors were “ridiculous”; and you know that it’s when the studio uses the powerful “ridiculous” instead of the usual “untrue”.
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World hits theaters on August 13th.
Do you think including additional material from Volume 6 is a good idea?
