While we just listed a number of films you should see this summer, it seems there are already a few more to look forward to in 2011. Focus Features has set release dates for Cary Fukunaga‘s Jane Eyre and Joe Wright‘s Hanna for spring 2011.
Fukunaga’s adaptation of the Charlotte Brontë classic will be releasing on March 11, 2011, which has been mentioned to focus on the novel’s darker, Gothic nuances. It tells the tale of a young governess (played by Mia Wasikowska) who falls in love with her employer (played by Michael Fassbender), but discovers he has a dark secret locked away. The film marks Fukunaga’s second release with Focus, and will reunite him with his Sin Nombre cinematographer Adriano Goldman. This will definitely be a must see.
Joe Wright’s film Hanna, the teenage assassin movie starring Eric Bana, Cate Blanchett, Saoirse Ronan and Olivia Williams, will hit theaters on April 8, 2011. Described as a “Bourne” style thriller, the story follows a teenage assassin (played by Ronan), who has been trained in the Swedish wilderness by her AWOL agent father (played by Bana), as she journeys across Europe on a mission her father has sent her on. Blanchett stars as Maria, the C.I.A. agent chasing the two. This is another film not to miss.
