EW is reporting that four more cast members have been announced for Dan Bradley’s 2010 remake of the 1984 film Red Dawn. The additions include Josh Hutcherson, Isabel Lucas, Edwin Hodge, and Connor Cruise. This comes a few months after the original casting announcement of Josh Peck, Adrianne Palicki, and Chris Hemsworth. The film is being produced by MGM and is set to start production in September. There is also a release date planned for September 24th 2010. This will also be Bradley’s first project as director. He has worked as a stunt coordinator and 2nd unit director on many notable films such as Indiana Jones 4 and Quantum of Solace.
Plot: A group of high school students become guerrilla fighters when their town is invaded by Central American and eventually Soviet soldiers at the beginning of WWIII in this apocalyptic fantasy. The pressures of their desperate existence begin to wear away at the “Wolverine’s” unity as the Soviet bloc forces hunt them down.
I haven’t had the chance to see the original Red Dawn but have heard mixed reactions. This film could go in any direction as of now. We won’t be able to make a better assessment until production actually begins. Stay tuned for further updates on the film.
