Ray Liotta has found his latest project, as Deadline reports that the actor is finalizing talks to co-star in Better Living Through Chemistry, a movie whose script appeared on the much talked about Black List in 2010. The movie follows the life of a small-town pharmacist who starts an affair with a murderous trophy wife.
Olivia Wilde will be playing Elizabeth, the trophy wife in question, after replacing a very pregnant Jennifer Garner and Sam Rockwell has stepped into star as the pharmacist, replacing a very busy Jeremy Renner. Liotta’s role will be that of Elizabeth’s rich husband. Directorial duties are being handled by the team of Geoff Moore and David Posamentier, who also wrote the script. This will be the duo’s debut in both avenues.
Even if the story itself doesn’t sound all that great on paper, Better Living Through Chemistry is worth putting on your radar for its cast alone. Rockwell is great in everything he’s in, regardless of said film’s quality (Gentlemen Broncos and The Sitter being two prime examples of bad movies with good Rockwell performances).
Ray Liotta has hit some snags career-wise, but he’s a damn fine actor and I always look forward to seeing him on the big screen. Cast alone, Chemistry has potential; now it’s all about the execution. Keep your fingers crossed; maybe if this is a big hit, Liotta won’t have to star in any more straight-to-DVD 50 Cent movies.
Chemistry is aiming for a May production start.
