Screenwriter Randall Walace has just been brought on to do rewrites for McG’s next film 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. The first draft of the script was penned by Justin Marks, the writer behind Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li. Wallace’s pervious work includes Braveheart, Pearl Harbor, and he also directed We Were Soldiers. It was always speculated that McG would helm another Terminator sequel before 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, but a sequel to Terminator Salvation seems unlikely to happen anytime soon.
This news makes perfect sense considering that the script probably wasn’t too sharp considering it came from the writer of Street Fighter. Hopefully Wallace’s rewriters deliver a script that is closer to the quality of Bravheart and not on the level of Pearl Harbor. I can’t say I am very interested in this project since I actually want to see another Terminator film directed by McG. Terminator Salvation was an actual good action film that gets way too much crap. Its one of those films that just got unbelievably hyped up and people bought into that hype, and in the end it didn’t deliver the greatness that people were hoping for. That sequel will probably never happen and even if it does happen it will most likely be without McG.
