Talks have been going around Hollywood for several months now about creating a movie based on the popular computer game “World of Warcraft.” With over 11 million subscribers, the film could definitely bring in some profits. The only details that have been available to public is that Sam Raimi (Spiderman 1-3) will be directing. Rumors have been flying that the movie would be based on one of the several World of Warcraft spin-off novels titled “Rise of the Linch King.” This morning however, MTV released an interview with Raimi where he confirms the story will be completely original. Even more details were given as he announced that the screenwriter will be Robert Rodat, whom wrote the popular film Saving Private Ryan.
Although personally I have never played World of Warcraft, I know its fans remain faithful and will be keeping close watch on this project as it progresses. Hopefully with Rodat’s Oscar-nominated talent on hand, the skepticism doesn’t become too overwhelming for the movie that is currently titled “Warcraft.”

Often, fan bases for adaptions like this start revolts against movies when they are released. Do you think Rodat can prevent this from happening and create a success in the box office?
