Mel Gibson may have lost his cameo in The Hangover 2, but the promotion for his next starring role in Jodie Foster‘s The Beaver has begun, despite not having a concrete release date and a small possibility of ending up straight to DVD. The 2010 American Film Market is currently going on in Santa Monica, California where completed films are vying for distribution rights. This happens to be one of them, and to promote the movie, they have released this promo picture, of which Coming Soon has gotten a hold of. Check it out:
The Beaver stars Mel Gibson as a man who has grown depressed and will only communicate with people through the use of a puppet (three guesses on what that puppet is). The promo picture hides Mel Gibson’s face, which accentuates just how much control this beaver puppet has in his life…and also coincidentally hides the face of a man who has become synonymous with “angry drunk racist”. As bad as Gibson’s image has become, I’m very interested in seeing this final product. It completed filming back in August, but I get why Summit Entertainment still is a little hesitant on giving it a proper wide release; if my lead actor drunkenly yelled at his ex-wife as crazily as Gibson did, I’d be waiting for that to blow over too. Still, a man talking through a puppet? Can’t miss prospect. Ask Joey Gladstone from Full House.
Even with Gibson’s ruined reputation, do you want to see The Beaver?
