A life-altering hurricane is bad enough, but add a human-hungry alligator to the mix and you’ll wish the storm took you first. This is the set up for Crawl, the latest horror thriller from Alexandre Aja, who knows the treacherous extremes of water-set terror after Pirahana 3D. Ahead of a July release, the first trailer has now landed.
Produced by Sam Raimi, the film stars Kaya Scodelario and Barry Pepper as daughter and father, respectively, who get trapped in their house after a hurricane. As the water is closing in, they discover an alligator on the loose. It looks like supremely fun schlock, perfect for the summer movie season. Check out the trailer and poster below.
When a massive hurricane hits her Florida hometown, Haley (Kaya Scodelario) ignores evacuation orders to search for her missing father (Barry Pepper). Finding him gravely injured in the crawl space of their family home, the two become trapped by quickly encroaching floodwaters. As time runs out to escape the strengthening storm, Haley and her father discover that the rising water level is the least of their fears.
Crawl opens on July 12.
