After delivering four films in 2011, Jason Statham has had a relatively light year, only showing up in Safe earlier this spring then as part of The Expendables 2 ensemble at the end of the summer. Next year brings three actioners and he’s kicking it off this January with Parker, directed by Ray helmer Taylor Hackford and featuring Jennifer Lopez, Nick Nolte, Michael Chiklis and Wendell Pierce. Unfortunately this first poster doesn’t give us much hope, but it does indeed show us that this is a Statham action vehicle, which is perhaps all audiences will want.
We’ve also got the best one-sheet yet for the drama The Sessions. After two remarkably bland offerings, leave it to the UK to give us something lively, mixing the humor of the film starring John Hawkes, while artfully adding a few key elements. I’ve already shared how much I connected with this tale of a disabled man and his sex surrogate (Helen Hunt) in my full review from Sundance, so with a few weeks left until it arrives, there’s not much more to add. Check out the posters below thanks to IGN/Empire.
Update: Entertainment Weekly also has a few stills, which one can see below.
Parker (Jason Statham) is a professional thief who lives by a personal code of ethics: Don’t steal from people who can’t afford it and don’t hurt people who don’t deserve it. But on his latest heist, his crew double crosses him, steals his stash, and leaves him for dead.
Determined to make sure they regret it, Parker tracks them to PalmBeach, playground of the rich and famous, where the crew is planning their biggest heist ever. Donning the disguise of a rich Texan, Parker takes on an unlikely partner, Leslie (Jennifer Lopez), a savvy insider, who’s short on cash, but big on looks, smarts and ambition. Together, they devise a plan to hijack the score, take everyone down and get away clean.
