In a brief update Deadline has reported Disney Studios Chairman Rich Ross has “just finalized the decision” to shoot Rob Marshall‘s Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides in Disney Digital 3D.

With all the 3D films crowding the marketplace, some terribly post-converted (Clash of the Titans) and some done quite well with 3D in mind (Avatar, Up) I’m glad Disney is going the latter route. Deciding to actually shoot in 3D is a huge step. It was inevitable this film was going 3D so at least they made the right choice. It seems Disney is also making a number of solid choices when it comes to production.

Pirates 4 hits theaters May 20, 2011.

Are you happy Pirates will be in 3D?
