Big sigh, fans. Master and Commander 2 has suffered another blow to its production boat today, as director of the first movie, Peter Weir told Digital Spy, there’s not much chance of him returning.
Russell Crowe, who starred as Captain Jack Aubrey in the original, recently pleaded with his twitter fans to contact Fox man, Tom Rothman, to get the ball rolling on the sequel, but Weir said he was “unlikely” to return to the story, despite the success of the first (it won two Oscars and received eight nominations back in 2003).
“I tend to like to do one film of a type and then move to something else, […] That was a fascinating experience, but do I need to do it twice? I don’t think so.”
