Paul W.S. Anderson (Event Horizon, Resident Evil) has just set a deal to direct a re imagining of the 1920’s classic sci-fi character Buck Rogers. Not only that, but it will be launching into space in 3D. Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway are penning the script, Deadline reports.
The story of Buck has influenced most of the modern sci-fi movies we see today, including Star Wars. It follows a space pilot going on adventures around the galaxy and saving earth, and a damsel in distress, from certain destruction be exotic alien races.
This comes after news that Anderson is eying another group of classic characters to turn into a modern film, ‘The Three Musketeers’. Anderson is clearly action based with little room for plot. The classic ‘Buck Rogers’ was clearly action based with little room for plot. Clearly, the two have the same goals in entertainment. The question is if Anderson will “modernize” it and fill it with violence that was not in classic. Hopefully not.
Do you think ‘Buck Rogers‘ would need violence to get modern audiences to see it?
