Rian Johnson (The Brothers Bloom, Brick) is adding cast members one at a time to his time-travel thriller, Looper. First we had Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who has appeared in all of his films thus far. Then there was veteran action star Bruce Willis. And then we got our female lead with Emily Blunt. Now Variety reports that Paul Dano (Little Miss Sunshine, There Will Be Blood, Knight and Day) will join the cast.

Written by Johnson, the story centers on “hitmen whose victims are sent back in time from the future to be executed. The Loopers bump them off in the present, so there is no trace of a crime in the future.” Something goes wrong, and we have our story. Details are scarce but we know Willis will play an older version of Gordon-Levitt. io9 got a look at the script, and I highly suggest heading over to their site to view the details. Dano is a solid addition and I’m also looking forward to his other sci-fi flick, Jon Favreau‘s Cowboys & Aliens.

Production begins in Louisiana this January.

What do you think of Dano joining the Looper cast?
