The man behind the best comedy character on TV will be seen again on the big screen. Nick Offerman‘s Parks and Recreation department director Ron Swanson provides some of the strongest laughs each week on the NBC show and even though you’ve seen in many places you probably forgot, Offerman’s film roles have been mostly insubstantial. He’s had his strongest big screen turn yet in the Sundance film Smashed (our review here) and now Deadline reports he’s booked another big part.
Juno and Young Adult screenwriter Diablo Cody is making her directorial debut with the drama Lamb of God and now Offerman has joined the cast that includes Julianne Hough, Russell Brand, Octavia Spencer and Holly Hunter. The film centers on a woman named Lamb who’s suffered from “horrific burns” in a plane crash and goes to Las Vegas “to live the life of a sinner, and on her journey finds her way back to her faith.”
Not details on Offerman’s role yet but one can also see him this spring with Will Ferrell in Casa de mi Padre and although it is small, he has a role in 21 Jump Street, which I’m allowed to say is much funnier than you likely think. Lamb of God will shoot this spring for a 2013 release.
What do you think about Offerman’s next project?
