Although he’s made aloof instantly charming on Parks and Recreation, I have a feeling by the end of the year, that won’t be one of the only things Chris Pratt is recognized by. He showed a dramatic side in Moneyball last year, and will be seen in a major role in Kathryn Bigelow‘s Zero Dark Thirty later this year. But thankfully  the actor is still showing his funny side not only on TV, but in Hollywood.

Variety reports that the actor is nearing a deal to come aboard Starbuck, which is a remake of French-language Canadian comedy from co-writer and director Ken Scott. DreamWorks already has Vince Vaughn in the lead role, as a middle-aged sperm donor shocked by the knowledge of his 533 children. He’s then faced with some heavy internal conflict when hundreds of those kids decide they would like to meet their absentee father.

Scott is set to return behind the helm as well as penning the script. (I’m sure Google Translate was helpful start for him in that process.) Pratt, however, will not be playing one of the kids, rather a father himself and Vaughn’s lawyer. I actually love the concept enough I’m eager to check out the original (trailer below) and one can’t go wrong with Pratt, who makes me laugh with just about every facial expression.

Production begins this year.

What do you think of Pratt in this role?
