Last month, Matt Ross‘ 28 Hotel Rooms made its debut at the Sundance Film Festival. Starring Chris Messina and Marin Ireland, the comedy-drama was a big hit here on The Film Stage, complete with a glowing review and a spot on our “The Best of Sundance Film Festival 2012” list. And now it’s time for the rest of us to see what the fuss was about.
Deadline reports the Oscilloscope have nabbed the U.S. distribution rights to 28 Hotel Rooms, making the deal at the Berlin International Film Festival. The release plan is one that most independent movies now follow: a premium VOD release will come first, followed by a theatrical run later in the year. As to exactly when this year…well, we’ll get back to you on that one. Consider this an I.O.U.
28 Hotel Rooms stars Messina and Ireland as two lovers who go from a one night fling through a full on relationship as time shifts from one hotel room to the next (guess how many! You won’t!), despite the fact they’re both married to other people. In other words it totally sounds like a movie that would play at Sundance, but I’m on board to check it out. I like it when filmmakers take chances on storytelling styles, and the power of Chris Messina will compel me to give it a watch. Seriously the guy’s a great actor; you should high five him if you ever see him on the streets. Check out the trailer out below.
Any excitement for 28 Hotel Rooms?
