It looks like Hairspray director Adam Shankman, along with Bill Mechanic, arre looking at many different ways to keep the 2010 Academy Awards running smooth this March. Reuters is reporting that all Oscar nominees are being asked to prepare two separate speeches for the ceremony. One speech will be for the new backstage “Thank You Cam”. After accepting the award onstage, where nominees have been “advised to make it more about what winning the Oscar means to them”, they will head backstage. Here they can list off every last person who they want to thank or anything they want to say. These videos will be able to be seen online by anyone after the ceremony.
If you have been following Adam Shankman‘s twitter he seems very open about new ideas and this is a great one. While I think nominees should be able to stay on stage for a reasonable time, I understand TV restrictions. I can’t wait to see the rest of the ideas they come up with when the ceremonies air on March 7th. Click the above image to see all the nominees at yesterday’s Oscar luncheon.
What do you think about this idea? Will you be watching the Academy Awards this year?
