After waiting for quite some time, it looks to finally be the year we’ll see On the Road, the Walter Salles-directed adaptation of Jack Kerouac‘s famous novel. Word is that it’ll likely be arriving at Cannes, we won’t have to wait too much longer and today we’ve got a few new images and a poster from the official Facebook page (via The Playlist). I know it is only production stills, but I’m digging the style here, especially the well-crafted poster below.
Starring Sam Riley, Garret Hedlund, Kristen Stewart, Kirsten Dunst, Steve Buscemi, Viggo Mortensen, Amy Adams, and Terrence Howard, ensemble is strong and we’ve also got a new official synopsis, which can be read below.
“Just after his father’s death, Sal Paradise, an aspiring New York writer, meets Dean Moriarty, a devastatingly charming ex-con, married to the very liberated and seductive Marylou. Sal and Dean bond instantly. Determined not to get locked in to a constricted life, the two friends cut their ties and take to the road with Marylou. Thirsting for liberty, the three young people head off in search of the world, of other encounters, and of themselves.”
If it does bow at Cannes, expect an announcement in April for the festival that kicks off in May.
