With Gordon Gekko’s official return to the silver screen only days away (in the south of France), Oliver Stone’s already talking about a trilogy.

Here’s what Mr. Stone had to say to Reuters:

“Why not? We left it open at the end in a way on which we can hang a Wall Street 3. We’ll have Gekko back and maybe Josh Brolin, too.” [IMDB]

The sequel (which will come out 23 years after the original) follows young Jacob Moore (Shia LaBeouf) and his girlfriend (Carey Mulligan) who get a taste of a newly-freed Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas reprising his iconic role) while dealing with other greedy brokers like Josh Brolin.

The buzz so far has been limited but strong. In a week, the Riviera will give us the fresh kick of criticism, so cross your fingers for a return to form for Stone. Perhaps one that warrants a potential trilogy.

Would you like a Wall Street trilogy?
