/Film is reporting that Nicolas Cage and Ryan Reynolds will star in Dreamworks next animated feature The Croods. The film is being co-directed by Lilo and Stitch director Chris Sanders and Space Chimps‘ Kirk DeMicco. Cage’s character is said to be a patriarch named Crug, while Reynolds character is forward thinking outsider. Check out the synopsis:
An old school caveman must lead his family across a volatile prehistoric landscape in search of a new home. The outsized flora and fauna are challenge enough, but the real complication arises when the family is joined by an alarmingly modern caveman whose search for “tomorrow” is at odds with our hero’s reliance on the traditions of yesterday.
The movie was initially being created be Aardman Animation before Dreamworks picked it up. The directors say that the movie will delve into “modern conveniences of social structures.” The movie is set to be released March 30, 2012.
