Just an hour after The Playlist reported Joss Whedon may take on Marvel’s Runaways, Deadline reported that Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist director Peter Sollett is in negotiations to direct. Take each report as you will as they are both quite good directors and nothing has been confirmed.

Think of the film as “The Breakfast Club with superheroes.” Brian K. Vaughan, who has written a few Lost episodes as well as the much acclaimed Y: The Last Man, wrote the comics which follow “a group of kids who just so happen to be the offspring of super-villians and are endowed with their own powers for evil. However, the kids don’t want any part of their parents diabolical plans and wish to use their powers for good along with exposing their parents for the villains they are. Calling themselves The Pride, they’re housed in a secret lair under the La Brea Tar Pits.”

It’s interesting to note that Paramount will distribute the film, since negotiations will be made before Marvel’s Disney merger. I really dug Sollett’s directorial debut Raising Victor Vargas as will as Nick and Nora. He has a great visual style and knows how to work with teens.

What do you think about Sollett directing Runaways?
