With the Hollywood debuts of Kim Ji-woon and Park Chan-wook both disappointing to varying degrees, it’s up to fellow South Korean director Bong Joon-ho to deliver the goods. Set in a post-apocalyptic near future, his drama Snowpiercer takes place entirely on a train and after being provided with the first stills and teaser poster, and new one-sheet arrives which gives us our first look at one of the main characters.
Standing above a crowd, one can see a ragged John Hurt in this new poster. With the film taking a look at a class struggle as a microcosm for the world, his character seemingly leads the poverty-stricken cabin. Hurt stars alongside Song Kang-ho, Chris Evans, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, Alison Pill, John Hurt, Ed Harris and Octavia Spencer, so hopefully we’ll get more looks at our cast soon, but in the meantime, check it out below thanks to Twitch.
Synopsis:
Snowpiercer is set in a future where, after a failed experiment to stop global warming, an Ice Age kills off all life on the planet except for the inhabitants of the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the globe and is powered by a sacred perpetual-motion engine. A class system evolves on the train but a revolution brews.
Snowpiercer will hit theaters in 2013.
