Just the other week the first character posters of Tim Burton‘s “Alice in Wonderland” began to creep all around the internet. The PR for this new film doesn’t seem to be interested in keeping on the down low, seeing as those character posters are already hanging at many movie theaters around the country. Now more pictures have come out over at Planet Disney from what appears to be a scan of a magazine. This update (seen above) brings us our first up close look of Mia Wasikowska playing the role of Alice (right).
Instead of remaking the original cartoon, Burton‘s film will go the route of a sequel. In the plot, Alice is now 17 years old and ten years have passed since her last visit to Wonderland (which she completely forgets about). Alice escapes a “snooty party” by following a white rabbit down a hole where she finds all the creatures of Wonderland waiting for her to help them revolt. As mentioned before, this film is set to hit theaters March 5th, 2010.

Do you think its a good idea for Burton to try a sequel instead of a remake?
