Variety reported today that Taken director Pierre Morel has been hired by Universal Pictures to direct a new film titled Pursuit. Variety reported that the plot involved ” the early career of conflict photographer Jason Howe, who fell in love with a woman while on assignment in Colombia, only to discover she was an assassin.”
The film is being produced by Jeffrey Weiner and Ben Smith; Jennifer Dana; and Andrew Lauren. Jerry Kalajian is set to executive produce. The studio is currently searching for screenwriters.
I am pleased to hear this. Morel is a great director. I am a huge fan of his directorial debut District B13 and his latest film Taken. Since he started out as a cinematographer he has an excellent understanding of the camera and has an eye for stunning visuals. I am glad that he is sticking to the thriller genre for now but I would like to see him expand perhaps in a few years.
