Yahoo! has just debuted the new full length trailer for Sony’s District 9. This trailer will also be seen on the big screen this Friday attatched to Bruno. District 9 shows a world where extraterrestrials have become refugees in South Africa. The story follows Wikus who is a Multi-National United agent who becomes infected by alien biotechnology. He must go on the run from the oppressive government into District 9, a internment camp where “non-humans” have been forced to live since landing on Earth nearly 30 years ago.
Thankfully this trailer doesn’t give away too much story wise or maybe it does, but I just didn’t notice since I was distracted by how fantastic the effects look. For a film that was on a budget of roughly thirty million, this looks a lot better visually then most of the blockbusters released this summer. Hopefully this lives up to the hype and will end up fitting in the realm of smart science fiction along with another fantastic film released this summer named Moon.
